CAMP GOODTIMES

Camp Goodtimes is a place that provides a week of fun for children living with cancer and their siblings.

Camp Goodtimes is a place that Chelsea loved. It is a place where it doesn’t matter what challenges you are facing, you are accepted and loved for who you are. Chels always felt that she belonged there, and it was the happiest of times for her and many other kids.

The Canadian Cancer Society's Camp Goodtimes is a safe and fun environment where great friendships are  made. It  takes place in the comfortable and relaxed setting of Loon Lake in Maple Ridge.

Camp Goodtimes Camps are for children aged 6-15 with a history of cancer, as well, there are some spaces set aside for siblings. The camp now hosts Family Camps as well as Teen Camps.

Approximately 400 kids go each summer. It’s a place for these kids to make new friends, go swimming, play games and spend time in the great outdoors. It's a place for kids to go where they can forget that they are or have been sick.  It's a place where they are unconditionally accepted.

Themes, costumes, arts & crafts, and other summer camp activities are offered in addition to special events such as a water fights, songs you can't get out of your head, carnival and a big dance at the end of the week!

Some of Chelsea's favorite times at camp were when Trevor Linden would show up. She also loved when the RCMP dogs would visit and put on a show.

Camp Goodtimes

Because Chelsea's leg had to be amputated, the camp got a special golf cart to escort her around the camp so that she wouldn't miss out on any of the fun. She bragged about the silent dinners, the potato fights, the camp fires, the new friends she made and would come home singing those silly songs.  It was truly her happiest days.

From the day Chelsea was born she challenged life and fought to be a normal kid.  At Camp Goodtimes she was normal and safe.  She felt like she belonged. No one looked at her strangely because she had no hair or fingernails. Amongst her were other children who have gone through, were going through or had lost someone special because of Cancer.

She loved Camp Goodtimes so much. It was the one thing she looked forward to every year.  She was able to share this camping experience with her brother, who was able to go on her behalf. He then graduated as a camper and came back as a Leader in Training.

It is for all these reasons that we support Camp Goodtimes.

Our Donations to the Camp

We (with your help) were able to put Laughs and smiles back where they belonged.  We purchased all of these items for the camp. Items we know the kids will actually see and use.
